Mini Book Reviews

Hello everyone!
Today I wanted to share some book reviews for books I have already read, but I wanted to do it in a unique way. I'm going to try and describe each book in one sentence and give my feelings about it in a second sentence.

Description: A girl dies and relives the last day of her life 7 times.
Rating: I didn't love this book, but I don't hate it either.

Description: A modern version of King Arthur and Knight's of the Round Table.
Rating: I thought this book was a good representation of the original story in a more modern setting.

Description: Lucy travels to Italy with a friend and falls in love.
Rating: I thought this was such a cute contemporary and I really enjoyed this book.

Description: Set during World War II and tells the story of 4 characters from different backgrounds, but their stories interconnect.
Rating: This is one of my new favorite historical fiction novels. I love Ruta Sepetys' writing.

Description: A man is stranded on Mars and has to survive.
Rating: I really enjoyed this book even though I didn't understand most of the science references.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day.

Mulan Book Tag

Hello everyone!
I recently saw the Mulan tag and decided it would be fun to do. The original creator was Kristy and the Cat Read

1. Reflection: "When will my reflection show who I am inside." - An inaccurate book cover that doesn't reflect what the book is about.

Between Shades of Grey. I love the cover of this book, but it doesn't really go with the story.

2. Mushu - A character with a lot to prove.

Maven from the Red Queen series. He's grown up in his brother's shadow and his mother's manipulation and wants to prove he can do things on his own.

3. "I'll make a man outta you!" - A character who develops the most.

Keefe from the KOTLC series. He starts out humorous and doesn't seem to take very much seriously and then by the fourth book he's grown up so much and shows his worth.

4. "A girl worth fighting for." - A ship you will defend till your last breath.

I'm going to use KOTLC once again, but I love Foster-Keefe. They would be so cute together, and especially after reading Nightfall I really want them to be together.

5. Huns - A book or character that gives you the creeps.

Dr. Hatch from the Michael Vey series. His character is so messed up and I would never want to meet him.

6. Mulan - Your favorite strong female character.

The first character that comes to mind is Attia from Blood and Sand. She fought for her freedom and I admire her strength and bravery.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day.

Review: Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux

Hello everyone!
I recently finished rereading The Phantom of the Opera. I read this a couple of years ago, but it's one of my all-time favorite books, so I wanted to reread it to refresh my memory.

Just to clarify, the book is way different from the movie. There are some things that cross over, but they're in a completely different order. The ending of the book is by far sadder than the movie. There are also a couple of characters in the book that aren't in the movie and they play a vital role in the story.

My favorite character would have to be either the Phantom (Erik) for his cleverness or the Persian. The Persian knew Erik before he lived under the Opera House. He had actually saved the Phantom's life and thought the Phantom should keep him alive because he'd saved him. Erik was such a clever character. He has done many terrible things, such as killing a man, but he had his ways of dealing with humanity. One of my favorite scenes is when the new Opera House owners are sitting in Box 5 and Erik plays tricks on them. It was quite a funny scene.

I think the book also does a better job of describing backstories of all the characters. Sadly, Madame Giry isn't a huge character in the book and doesn't have a history with the Phantom. Instead, the Persian knows all about the Phantom and why he does what he does. The book also describes Christine's story in more detail, especially about her father. I loved reading about the backstory of each character.

Overall, I gave this book 5/5 stars. It was very beautifully written and paints such vivid pictures in your mind as you read. It will always be one of my favorite books. If you love the movie, I highly recommend you read the book. It is totally worth your time. I think everyone should read it at least once their lifetime.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day.
