Favorite Book to Movie Adaptations

Hello everyone!
I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite book to movie adaptations. I still do prefer most books compared to their movies, but I still do enjoy a lot of movies that are based off books.

The Martian
I saw this movie before I read the book which I think helped me like the book a whole lot more. They're both fantastic.

Harry Potter
I also watched the movies before reading the books, but the books are better. I still really enjoy the movies, hence why they're on this list.

Divergent
I thought they did a really good job with this adaptation and it's my favorite of the series. The sequel movies were definitely not my favorite.

Pride and Prejudice
I only like the 6 hour version of this adaptation. They did a fantastic job with it and helped me appreciate this story a lot more.

City of Bones
I really enjoyed the movie and was so sad they only did the first one. I don't like the tv show as much and really wish they would've just continued with the movies.

The Phantom of the Opera
Both the book and the movie are amazing and I can't recommend both highly enough.

What are your favorite book to movie adaptations?
Thanks for stopping by. Have a fabulous day.

Try a Chapter Tag #2

Hello everyone!
I currently have three unread books checked out from the library and am having a hard time deciding which one to read first, so I decided to do a try a chapter tag to help me decide. I think this is a fun way to pick your next read.

Book Option 1 - Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
The first chapter was 13 pages long (including a 2 page prologue). I really enjoyed the writing, but I could feel myself drifting away from the plot. This first chapter was very confusing to me and I didn't understand what was going on. In my head I was thinking the story was something else than what it ended up being. I don't know if I'll read this book at this time because it doesn't seem to be what I'm in the mood for.

Book Option 2 - Die For Me by Amy Plum
This chapter was 8 pages long (including a 1 page prologue). I did like what I read, but was it enough that I want to pick it up now? I found the main character to be annoying. I liked her sister, but she complained the whole time. Like, your in Paris, go take advantage of that. I would be interested to see where the story goes from there, but I don't know if it's the book I'll pick up right now. It seems like a book to read during the summer months for me.

Book Option 3 - New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
This chapter had 29 pages. It picked up pretty quickly from where Twilight left off. I loved diving right back into this story. I really like the writing (even though it's not the best). I enjoy how all of the chapters end with some kind of cliffhanger making you want to continue with the story. Could this possibly be the book I'll be picking up?

I've decided that I'm going to read New Moon. I'm going to save the other two for a future time, they just weren't what I was looking for at this point in time. I'm intrigued to see how Bella and Edward's story progresses and what happens next.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day.

Review: Skyward by Brandon Sanderson

Hello everyone!
I recently finished my first ever Brandon Sanderson novel, Skyward. It's a sci-fi novel that follows a girl, Spensa, whose father was accused of being a coward. His decision of turning away from a very big battle has challenged her standing among her society. They all think that she will be just like her father and run away from danger. She is determined to prove them all wrong and attends flight school to become a pilot.

While I didn't love this book, I also didn't hate it. I felt like the first part was really intriguing, then towards the middle the story started to drag for me. Once the ending arrived, it was gone too fast. I really did like the story line though, it was really interesting.

I also really liked the characters. The main character wasn't particularly my favorite, but I really enjoyed the side characters. Some of my favorites were Rig, M-Bot, Kimmalyn, and obviously Doomslug. The way they all helped each other was one of my favorite parts of this book. I also really liked Cobb and his role in the story.

Overall, I rated this book 3/5 stars. I would've rated it higher if the story moved a little more quickly in the middle. That's what made me lose enjoyment. I think this was a good introduction for me into Brandon Sanderson's writing. I'm willing to give one of his other books a go, and if I have the same problem with those, then I don't think I'll be reading any more of his books. But, if you love his work, I think you'll really enjoy this book.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day.
